Research Project “Power4Production” (P4P)
The intelligent connection between products and manufacturing environments in the industrial value chain is the focal point of the Power4Production center. This refers to the direct communication between the workpiece and the machines, as well as the connection in the Human-Robots-Communication chain, linked to the so-called cyber-physical production systems.
Research & Development issues addressed are robust networks, cloud-computing and energy-efficient manufacturing.
P4P is operated by ZeMA in Saarbrücken with staff from the DFKI and ZeMA.
The government sees the new center as an important contribution to further strengthen the research location Saarland and profile. Therefore, the Ministry of Economy, Labor, Energy and Transport promotes the centre as part of its industrial policy initiative “Saarland industrial country. How do we win with industrial future” and covers its running costs initially for three years. The State of Saarland provided funding for the necessary additional hall space and their management at ZeMA. Research at the center will be financed through publicly funded projects and direct cooperation with industry. The automotive sector will be one of the key focuses of the center, which is led by both Professor Müller and Professor Wahlster. In addition to research in the topic area Industrie 4.0, the center plans to establish a corporate network to address current challenges faced by operational practice. The range of services offered by P4P are further complemeted by advanced training services offered for employees and managers of companies.
